Certain Cases of Tied Note not Sounding in Playback
Hello all. MuseScore beginner here.
I have noticed that when creating tied notes lasting longer than 2 measures (8 beats in my case) they do not playback. This only happens when the tie created in a certain way, as I will elaborate below for reproduction.
How to reproduce:
0. Create a default score, with any sustaining instrument of your choice (No piano/harp, etc.).

Create 2 identical whole notes, one measure each. (4/4 time in my case).

Tie them by selecting both with CTL, and pressing "T".

Create an additional whole note in the adjacent next measure.

Select the second whole note, and while holding CTL, select the new third whole note.

Tie these together as well with "T".
What happens on my end is that the instrument in question will hold over until the second note, as expected, and then stop playing on the third note. I have also attached a sample score that hopefully reproduces this on your machine.
This does not happen when tying all three notes together. Intuitively, you would think that adding a tie onto a tie results in a bigger tie, and thus a longer sustain. I suppose MuseScore does not see it that way.
Just wanted to note this observation in case it hasn't been already.

Is there some reason you are using CTRL?
Select the second whole note and hit 'T'. And so forth.
For longer ties, select the first note, SHIFT and select the last note and hit 'T'.

I tend to work on individual measures, so if I decide to continue a tied note, it is more convenient for me to just select the end of the tie and then append the additional note to the end, effectively just concatenating the tie with the new note.
Of course, with your method, it works just fine. But with mine, it breaks. From a semantic standpoint, the methods should be identical, and give the same playback, but they do not.

But CTRL doesn't work that way. And not intended to. They are not at all identical. Yes, we work on one measure at a time. I was only pointing out a way to tie several notes.
So you have two notes you want tied. Why would you use CTRL? Select the first note and hit T.
Did you know that one way ( of many ) to add a third whole note is to select the second and hit R? Then select the second note and hit T.
