MAH COMPUTER CAIN'T DO IT

• Jan 30, 2024 - 02:21

I downloaded 4.2.1. Needless to say I need a new computer. Not to worry, I'm saving up for it and I'll report back in like the mid 2040s or something.

Does your computer/OS meet the requirements? If they don’t, that doesn’t mean anything, as MU4 can run on an older computer than the hub, which the system requirements are based on.
Also, as long as it meets the requirements for 4 (which I assume is true because you are running the app), the computer shouldn’t affect anything but speed. V4 is big. Two windows opens two instances, because the sound engine is too complex for one. This makes lag worse, and makes it impossible to recover an unsaved file if only one window crashes.

Sorry, but age of the computer doesn't have anything to do with it. Nor does the HUB. Even on my old system with several instances of MU4 open there is no lag. There is some studder after I stop playback. But playback itself, is fine. You only need the HUB to download updates. Then quit it. Newer updates actually run better. As long as computer has an SSD, 8 gb of ram, and at least a two core CPU (8 is better) MU4 is usable, though not perfect.

UPDATE: After shaking down my descendants fer cash money, I was able to update mah system. It now has 24 cores, but I'm not sure what happened to the planets they belonged to. I hope those people are ok. Anyway, I now can play everything without problem, except for discovering that the real issue is that I suck as a composer.

my old Dell 2013 laptop runs MU 4 just fine, even with the hub. (and my DAW, and CAD / Rendering, and office programs as well) the only change - I replaced the disks with larger SSD drives. 1000% performance increase for $150 and a couple of hours to clone them.
