Keyboard shortcuts for "LH guitar fingering"

• Feb 17, 2024 - 20:53

Hello everyone,

I am looking to add fingering to classical guitar scores as quickly and efficiently as possible. I would like to know if there is any way to assign individual "LH Guitar Fingering" palette cell selections to a keyboard shortcut. Ideally, I would like to simply select a note, press a number, and have my desired fingering placed there.

The closest I have gotten is going to Musescore>Preferences>Shortcuts>Add Text: Fingering, but this only works for "fingering" palette cells, not "LH guitar fingering" (the the spacing between note and fingering of "fingering" is not correct for classical guitar scores). I also still have to input the finger number.

The method is Musescore>Preferences>Shortcuts>Apply current palette element, but this will only input the selected palette cell, which I have to use my cursor to select. This requires me to either A. bounce between selecting a note and selecting a palette cell to change the finger number (which negates the point of the keyboard shortcut) or B. use the keyboard shortcut, press enter, press right arrow, press backspace, input finger number. B is my preferred method as of right now but I was hoping a quicker workaround could be found.

I am using a 2017 MacBook Air running Monterey 12.7.3 with Musescore 4.2.1.

You forget a step (#3), so:
1. Select the note
2. Click on the palette cell for a LH guitar fingering
3. Double-click on this first fingering to launch the process of inputting
4. Press space bar to move to next note, and input fingerings (LH and RH) using only your keyboard (and no more palette) :)
