Muting Notes for a guitar part

So I'm writing out Trofeo De Bolos by Craig Skeffington, and am writing the guitar part. I have the note heads set as slashes, and want to make them silent, so they are basically just beat marks. Since the chords will be labeled above them. If anyone can help me figure out how to mute a note completely, since I have tried the velocity work around and it doesn't work. It would be greatly appreciated!!
