change time signature
I'm using MuseScore 4.1. I can't manage to change the time signature (from 4/4 to 5/4) for one measure. The formula is to click an empty space in the measure and "Measure Properties" will pop out. It doesn't work.

To see the measure properties Right click in an empty part of the measure. That will allow you to change the duration of that one measure without actually changing the time signature - i.e. you get 5 beats actual duration in a 4 beat nominal duration measure.
To change the actual time signature and see the new time signature in the score just click on something in the measure and then click on the desired time signature in the palette. But that will adjust the duration of all following measures until there is another time signature. So if you want only one measure of 5/4 you would need to first add a 4/4 time signature in the measure after the place you want to be 5/4.

Brilliant! Thank you. No, I didn't need more beats. I wanted a time change, so went from 4 to 5 and back to 4. Thank you very much!
Are you trying to actually change the time signature, or just the number of beats in the measure?
"Measure Properties" will appear if you click on the measure, and then right click.

I didn't need more "beats," although I'd get one automatically when going from 4/4 to 5/4. The secret was twofold: right clicking and finding the palette I wanted under the View tab. Thank you!
