transpose notes
I have some measures that I want to transpose down by an octave. How is this done?
I know that I will want to transpose other notes by a variety of intervals, too, so, same question.

Have you read the advice in the Handbook? If so, where does that advice fail you?

First of all, 1) I'm new to MuseScore, 2) it's difficult to find things in the handbook, and 3) your response could have directed me to somewhere in the handbook. So, no. To answer your questions, the entire handbook has failed me.

The quick method is to select those measures and press Ctrl + down arrow.
See:

and, for selection method:

Searching something (e.g. https://musescore.org/en/search/handbook?keys=Basics) in the handbook (click Support>Handbook) times out!!
Maybe that is what bothered the OP.
I'm on Windows 10.
