tempo changing at playback
After I updated to version 4.4.1, I created a new score and left the tempo at the default 120 bpm. At playback, it only played at 60 bpm until it reached the 2nd ending of a repeated phrase where the tempo doubled to 120 bpm. Then, when it reached another 2nd ending, it doubled again to 480 bpm.

That's curious. We'll probably need a copy of this score to be able to investigate this problem. Could you please upload the MSCZ file here?

It's not changing now, but it is playing back at half speed, as if it doesn't recognize cut time.

The default tempo is 120 quarter notes per minute, as indicated in the playback toolbar. If you want it to be 120 half notes per minute, you'll need to add a tempo marking from the palettes. If you don't want the tempo marking to be printed, then you can make it invisible by clicking on it and then deselecting "Visible" in the properties panel.
