It’s standard that a click on a text label alters the state of a checkbox or radio button, and MuseScore generally adheres to this norm.

In the following locations label clicks have no effect—i.e. he user has to click directly on the control icon:

     Style>Fretboard diagrams

          Fret Number
               Position>Left
               Position>Right

          Format:
               Number only
               Custom suffix

Non-functional properties

Style>Fretboard diagrams>Edit fret number text style
... in other words the x, y properties for Fret Marks, discussed here

Examples of functioning properties

     Dot Size
     String spacing

Requests regarding MSS 4.4.3 Fretboard Diagrams

Request No. 1

As shown in the first diagram of the attached image, we need a functioning Fret Number y offset. I haven't been able to get it to work.

Request No. 2

The second diagram illustrates the option to have the Fret Number positioned to any fret of the diagram. This is important when I want to denote the position of the root of a chord or scale diagram. It highlights the fret on which the root is located.

Request No. 3

I'm surprised we don't have a hollow circle as a fret mark

Requests for Fingerings

1) limit fingering input to numbers between 1 and 4

2) allow input for t or T possibly p or P (so scorists can indicate the thumb or pulgar in diagrams)

3) allow optional fingering on a separate field line. Press return to add a line break, then add your alternate finger which will show beneath the primary fingering. (Line spacing would be welcomed.)

4) For accessibility: Shouldn't the Tab key move from any selected fingering field to the next one rightward?

The following is an image of the proposed Properties>Fretboard Diagram panel with the "thumb" option
