All notes silent
Scores that play fine in v 1.3 and the December "beta" of v 2.0 make no sound at all in the nightly build labeled "MuseScoreNightly-2015-03-11-1708-d4e22ed"
I can turn the metronome on and hear it but actual notes in the score make no sound.

You don't say what OS you are on, but I'm guessing if Linux, you didn't complete the installation and have only the executable itself, and if Windows or Mac, the nightly and the beta are somehow comflicting about location of soundfonts. See if anything shows up in View / Synthesizer (should be FluidR3 loaded). When in doubt, try running with "-F" to revert to factory settings.

I experienced the same problem in Win8.1, nightly build 2c62663. Nothing appeared in the View / Synthesizer box. Running with -F indeed does the trick.

I'm on Windows 7.
My understanding of the "Nightly Builds" is that you unpack the zip to your hard drive and then run "nightly.exe"
The Synthesizer panel has a tab for "Fluid" but nothing in the window.
If i click "Add" , a "Soundfont Files" window appears with one listing, "FluidR3Mono_GM.sf3"
If I choose that, the notes in scores do now make sounds.
If I delete the entire Nightly build folder and unpack the zip again and run "nightly.exe", the "FluidR3Mono_GM.sf3" does appear in the "Fluid" window at the outset.
So, there must be some setting stored elsewhere from a previous version of Musescore that made it not choose "FluidR3Mono_GM.sf3" until i did it manually.

Precisely. It was looking for the soundfont in your old install location, because it was remembering your settings in Edit / Preferences from the previous installation. That's why "-F" would have fixed it too - it would have cleared that setting to the default.

What is the Mac equivalent of "running with -F"? I'm getting no sound out of the RC, and the Fluid synthesizer window is empty.
