Guitar position symbols
See attached image – positionfile.gif.
The image shows a 7th position symbol for the guitar, which is available in the line option of the palette. But guitarists also need the same line for other positions with different text elements: 1,2,3,4 etc., and for half-barrés.
How does the user create these custom symbols which need the same type of line but different texts?

Right click the line -> Line Properties > Text.
See https://musescore.org/en/node/39841 and https://musescore.org/en/handbook/custom-palettes if you want to add these lines to a palette.
But there only seems to one option available in the master palette lines: a 7th position line (marked VII)! What about the other positions?
Guitarists need a barré symbol for every fret position, namely: I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X etc., not to mention the corresponding half-barrés.
What is needed is a way for the user to customise text and an appropriate line into one element. Is that possible on MuseScore at the moment?

Yes, exactly as described above. Add the line, then right click it, choose Line Properties, and edit the text.

Marc,
I am not seeing this working for the Mac. When I right click on the bar line for the seventh guitar position, there is no option to change the Roman numeral. I tried this several times. Thanks, Diana M.

4 years later the software has evolved a bit.
You can now change the text in the Inspector (F8) after selecting the line.
