Need of 25 measures

• Aug 12, 2015 - 21:27

Hi, as most of those who have helped me know I have been working on re-writting an original piece all day and have attached a copy of where I am as of now. I can't seem to figure out from reading the handbook which option to choose to get 6 more measures on the 1rst page so i have a total of 11 staves. As the original doc. will show...I'm trying to replicate it as close as possible and only changing the notes to a more simplified version. Thank you for your help......

Right now you have tried to do *way* too much manual adjustment and this is going to get in the way of your ability to get the formatting you want. Stated simply, you *will not be able to get good results* that way.

The first thing you need to do is turn off "Hide empty staves". This *does not work* until you are *done* entering notes. Otherwise, it does exactly what it did hear -= it hid the empty staves you haven't entered music into yet, making it next to impossible to keep entering notes at all!

The next thing you need to do is press Ctrl+A to select all, then Ctrl+R to reset all the manual adjustments you have made, then press "Set Visible" in the Inspector. Those manual adjustments are all incorrect, which is why some notes are not matching their stems and others are right up against barlines and notes are not lining up correctly. you shoudl almsot *never* be adjusting position of notes manually; that is almost always a sign you have entered the notes incorrectly in the first palce. You also should not normally need to make anything invisible at this stage - that is also usually a sign that you have entered something incorrectly in the first place (eg, the rests in measures 1 & 2)

You should also look up in the Handbook about "Cross staff notation", as I think some of the adjustments you are making are an attampt to create that. Also be sure to read the section on "Voices" thoroughly, as some of the other issues I see in the score seem to be a case of not using them correctly.
