musescore and pianoteq
I have a copy of pianoteq (Linux).
Is it possible to get the output of 'play' to go via midi
to pianoteq please?

Yes, you need to install JACK and set MuseScore to talk to jack in Preferences -> I/O. Then install a VST host such as Carla http://kxstudio.linuxaudio.org/Applications:Carla and load Pianoteq in Carla.

Thanks for that. I'm curious why Carla (VST host) is needed?
qjackctl provides a patching system which I had set up to connect
musescore to pianoteq (without success)
That aside, good to know it should work - when I figure out how.

If Pianoteq can talk jack MIDI natively it should work without a VST host and you use Pianoteq standalone. If not, I guess you will need to load pianoteq as a VST in a VST host, being carla or another one.

I've had a keyboard, qjackctl, pianoteq working, so I think the answer is yes :-)
Yet to be proven.

Sounds good then. You "just" need to replace the keyboard by MuseScore in qjackctl
