Noteheads are being automatically added when I play from my midi keyboard
when I first opened musescore I had no problems and everything was very smooth. I don't remember if I had accidentally pressed a button but for some reason, everytime I play a note on my midi keyboard, the same pitch is sounded twice and a notehead is added to every single note/chord I play. any solutions? thanks in advanced

I'm guessing your keyboard is transmitting two sets of note messages for each key you press. Maybe you accidentally enabled some mode on your keybaord where it transmits on multiple channels at once? Or maybe some sort of dual layer feature? Probably you will need to consult the documentation for your keybaord to understand what it might be doing and how to change it.

actually now that I think of it, I remember seeing the word "dual" on my keyboard. that must've been the problem the entire time. thanks so much!
