Open Hi-hat notes in drum kit

I have a piece of music that has an open hi-hat note with a hollow diamond in the closed hi-hat space on the staff. First of all, what does this note mean (I am not a drummer), and how do I input that note into the space of the closed hi-hat? Secondly, I can't seem to figure out how to change the notehead.
