Using barre line for classical guitar
I'm new to MuseScore. I'm trying to write out a classical guitar score, but the only barre position in the lines palette is 'VII' and there seems to be no way to change it. Surely there is some way to edit this.

The VII is free editable text. Drag the VII symbol from the palette to the score and then double click it to get into edit mode.

If it were that obvious I'd have done it. No amount of clicking/double clicking makes it editable. I can edit the nodes at the left and right ends of the line but the text itself is inaccessible. I'm using 64-bit Windows Vista, and suspect that that's the problem. I've set it to Windows XP emulation but it doesn't help.

Once you dropped the line on the score, right click on it -> Line properties. You'll see that you can edit the text at the beginning on the left side of the dialog.
As far as I know there is no need to mess with XP compativility mode to run MuseScore on Vista 64.

I am having the same problem but the solution does not work for me.
Right clicking the line on the score gives a menu with the title "TextLineSegment" but there is no Line properties option in the list. I can enter edit mode which lets me alter the length of the line but none of the options open a dialog.
I am using Mac OS X

What version of MuseScore? In current versions (eg, 1.0), that menu should contain:
Cut
Copy
Paste
Select
Set Invisible
Line Properties

Sorry, I should have mentioned that.
I am experimenting with version 2.0 R4483 (the latest of the nightly builds for OS X)
The right click menu contains:
Cut
Copy
Paste
Select
Edit element
Object inspector
