MuseScore 0.9.4 Revision 1204 regularly stops running

• Oct 27, 2008 - 00:42

Several times in the 24 hours since I downloaded Revision 1204, Windows (Vista operating system) has given the screen message “Program has stopped working.” Several operations have been underway when this has happened: an attempt to introduce a new time signature in the course of a piece, outlining one or more measures to copy or delete, and once just note entry.

Have other users encountered this problem? This problem did occur in Revision 888, and disappeared with Revision 1102, but seems to have reappeared with Revision 1204. Am I in some way the cause of it, and can I prevent it?

Any time the program malfunctions, it is certainly not your fault. These are likely caused by programming errors. It is possible that each problem you had is a separate issue, and needs to be addressed on its own. To do so, it would be helpful if you could outline the exact steps you took to reach each problem, and attach the score you were working on if you cannot reproduce it on a simpler score.

Thanks.

Hello Systrov,

Thank you for your comments and questions regarding my crashes.

The crashes have occurred with the attached is score, “Variations on an Original HymnTune (Siegmund)Rev1.mscz” created on version 0.9.3, revision 1102. The problems have arisen when editing in 0.9.4 revision 1204. I'm using the VISTA operating system.

Here is what has happened repeatedly:

In any measure:

1.I highlight a measure (a blue rectangle surrounds to the selection). I first tried this with measures 19 and 34.
2.Press INSERT, or I click on measure operations, then click on insert measure
3.Windows screen message announces that MuseScore is not working.
4.I click “Close the program” and the program closes. The other choice is “Search the Internet for a solution,” which I tried with no success.

In measure 41:

1.I highlight the c (middle c) on the second eighth note of the bass clef and press DELETE to delete this note.
2.Windows screen message announces that MuseScore is not working.
3.I click “Close the program” and the program closes. The other choice is “Search the Internet for a solution,” which I tried with no success.

NOTE: In measure 41, when I delete either the d preceding the c, or the second c following, the deletion works normally.

My goal has been to repair minor mistakes I made in entering the score. I'm delighted with MuseScore, which offers the best chance I've seen to put my music in a form I can send to friends or post on the Internet. So please ask if I've omitted something you need to know.
