vertical misalignment of multiple voices

• Aug 7, 2009 - 17:22

I think the easiest way to illustrate this issue is within the context of the "Bilder einer Ausstellung" demo score.

Measures 9, 11 and 12 contain two voices, the notes of which are displayed perfectly -- i.e., slightly offset from one another although they fall on the same beat.

However, they are not displayed correctly when one recreates this situation.

If you select a Voice 2 note in any of those measures, replace it with a rest and then replace the rest with a note, the offset disappears and the resulting alignment is incorrect. I can't find any means of nudging the notes away from one another or entering the kind of spacer that is needed between them.

I wasn't sure if this is technically a bug or a request for a new feature. I think it can be considered a bug because the Demo is correct. How was that done? Why can't it be recreated?

I'm using Windows XP SP3, and this problem exists in both 0.9.4 rev 1518 and 0.9.5 release 1987.

Thanks in advance for any information!

Dang, I must have tried everything except double-clicking.

When I tested this solution, I realized I couldn't simultaneously double-click on the notehead and stem (and accidentals, flag and/or beam) simultaneously -- and wondered if I would have to nudge each item individually.

The answer is No. If you double-click and nudge only the notehead, those associated elements shift, too, as soon as you click way from the notehead to exit from Edit Mode.

Many thanks, David, for your prompt and helpful response!
