How to Change Midi from Piano to Linked Guitar Staff + TAB

I used AnthemScore to convert an MP3 of a guitar tune to MIDI. When I open the MIDI file in MuseScore it shows a piano score on two staffs. I have been unable to change the instrument from Piano to Guitar. In "Edit Instruments" when I add Classical Guitar and remove Piano I lose all notation.
Is it possible to replace an instrument in a MIDI file in MuseScore ?.
I would greatly appreciate any help on this question.

Select All (Ctrl + A);
Copy and paste in the new instrument.
Then eliminate the not needed instrument

I claimed success too soon. Using copy and paste I was able to replace Piano in Staff 1 and Staff 2 with Classical Guitar. When I use the Edit Instruments to add the tablature staff, I get an unpopulated staff. Also, if I add two tablature staffs I get each one showing as Staff 1.

Should I be able to add a tablature staff to each of the existing two Standard staffs and have the tablature automattically populate?

Thanks again for your generous help. I now have guitar notation and tab.
I took your suggestion and purchased the Kindle Edition of Mastering MuseScore by Marc Sabatella. It has the level of detail that I need.
