Rehearsal marks hidden when top staff is a rest
I'm trying to add a rehearsal mark on a 5-staff system where the top staff has a full measure rest. A blue box does show up, but there is no box with rounded angles visible and when I type the letters don't show up.
Is this a known bug? How do I fix this? Thanks!

It's a known (and already fixed in the nightly builds IIRC) bug where rehearsal and similar marks don't if the top staff is completely empty and hidden via Hide Empty Staves. But assuming you are seeing the staff at all, a rehearsal mark should show up just fine even if the messure it is attached to is empty. If younare seeing otherwise, posting a score that demonstrates the problem might help resolve the problem.

I apologize. I tried searching the forums for this bug, but I couldn't find it.
Now that you mention it, you are correct. The *actual* top staff is hidden. (I was talking about the top visible staff, which is also empty in this measure.)
Thanks

No apologies necessary! Actually, depending on how you do the search, the system may deliberately hide bug reports reports from the issue tracker if they have already been fixed. And of ciourse, you didn't realize the problem was the hidden staff.
So unfortunately, the bottom line is that you can't hide the top staff via Hide Empty Staves in 1.x - too many things go wrong. If you wish to use the option anyhow, plant some invisible notes in the top staff so it never appears truly empty. Odd things also happen if the bottom staff gets hidden (spacers don't work), but it's not as bad.
