Added Uke Tab to existing score imported from abc file - terrible mess!

I have just started trying out MuseScore and am very impressed with the latest stable version (1.2) but I really need to have a uke tab as well as (or instead of) the notation, so I have tried the nightly build version as well. Easy learning curve for the "real" version but it got a lot steeper with the transition to the nightly build.

1. I already had the score set up OK with MuseScore v1.2 by importing an abc file that someone else had created in answer to a query on Mudcat.

2. I imported that file into the nightly build MuseScore and added the uke tab.

RESULT: ! audio perfect ! - but visually an awful mess that I cannot work out how to fix!

I still have the original file and this is my third try at adding the uke tab, tweaking different settings each time.

This is the best result so far - the others attempts resulted in extra problems, eg. the chord labels on the score stave dropping down right on to the top line of the stave so that they were obscured by the notes.

NOTE: The uke should be tuned gCEA. I tried editing the strings on an earlier test and was not sure what I was doing and I just made it worse.

PROBLEMS:

1) the score is rendered as being played almost exclusively on the A string . . . maybe that is correct . . . it just seems a bit unusual. If that really is the A string . . .

2) . . . the "tab" still has 6 "strings", despite the Stave Properties being set to 4 strings with the instrument set as Ukulele-4str.TAB

3) long dangling lines that drop down across the length of the page and off the bottom.

I hope that this "report" is helpful and would be grateful if anyone can guess what is going wrong and, if it is due to my error, how I might fix it.
