Smooth out the transition from note to note or chord to chord
I am fairly new to music writing and theory, so I don't know a lot of the terminology yet. Here's what I'm trying to do:
If I have 2 measures of vocals, one is in B, the other is in D. Instead of sounding like two separate syllables (i.e. laaa-LAAA) I want it to sound like a single syllable stretched across two pitches (i.e. laaaAAAA).
Similarly, I want to be able to do the same thing with a choir of voices. I want to be able to go from B Minor to D Major without it sounding like two different syllables.
Part of this is making the playback preview sound the way I want, but the other part is getting it written down so that when done by real people it sounds the way I want.

To way to get musicians to sing it the way you want is to use appropriate lyrics (eg, laaa-aaa). You can if you wish also use slur marks.
For playback, there is no direct way currently to get specific sounds for specific syllables. You could experiment with different sounds in View / Mixer and potentially different soundfonts (see Help / Online Handbook, look under "Soundfonts") to get a good compromise.

I'm not trying to get specific sounds for different syllables. I'm trying to get one syllable to stretch across two notes, instead of each note being an individual syllable.

OK, I thought you specifically wanted the "laa" to have that sound but the "aaa" to have that.
In that case, just as I said, experiment with different sounds or soundfonts to find one that has the degree of smoothness you desire.
