Sound Is Garbled
I have been playing with the nightlies over the last couple of weeks as they have become more stable. The playback was fine a couple of weeks, but last week MuseScore started having a "garbled" sounding playback. I chalked it up to a problem with one of the nightlies, but it has persisited, and I don't see anyone else posting anything about it.
I am running a Windows XP machine, and it happens with any score opened or created in 2.0. I tried switching to the TimGM soundfont, but I got the same results. I tried creating a new Flute solo score from scratch, and I created a short mp3 that shows what it sounds like -

When I export it to mp3, it sounds just fine, so it's just the playback within MuseScore. Any idea what would be causing this problem and how to fix it?

1.3 continues to work well
P.S. the only change made to the pc is the elimination of the JRE (Java) but I do not see the connection

What's your computer configuration?
I made a change recently to fix a bug on mac playback. It didn't have any side effect on my windows, but it could be the problem.

Home premium (32-bit) Service Pack 2 Core (TM) Duo CPU @2.66Ghz.
Even that downloaded today (6de066c) behaves in the same manner described in this conversation.
I have the same problems on my WIN XP PC
with terribly distored sounds - using FluidR3_GM2-2.sf3
Also the tempo is too slow.
Sound and tempo are ok in all nightly-builds
before 2013-09-18 9491c2a
so - it seems to be a 2.0 problem

the fix lasconic mentioned might have broke things. It 9 days old. So if an older nighly build works for you, but no younger, this one might be the culprit.

Yes correct. For the ones with the sound garbled, can you report what you see in Edit -> Preferences -> IO -> portaudio? The API and device combos.

Mine says:
API: MME Device: Microsoft Sound Mapper - Output

Why does my sound not work - suddenly since some days ?
My preferences are
API - MME and Divice - Microsoft Soundmapper out
and I promise - this was not changed - all the time

Those are my preferences as well, likewise I've never changed them (didn't know you could!).
By way of experiment I changed to DirectSound output and restarted: the program wouldn't even play back a single note much less a score :-(

Thank you all for your answers. I reverted the change in 86d1c18ce9. Hopefully, sound will be back to normal for you.

Is it possible that the musescore program change in latence causes all this problems
with sounds ???
What can I try or test to come to correct results ???
Glad someone posted this - same issue here on Windows Vista :-(
