measure number attribute meaning
Hi, Iam trust trying to understand musicxml.
What does a number of a measure mean?
In the description it says:
Measures have a required number attribute (going from partwise to timewise, measures are grouped via the number).
But I have an musicxml file, that has measure with numbers up to 9.
Thanks in advance

thanks so much! But where is the number of beats coming from? By what rule do you divide in a measure?
The division of a staff/system into measures is usually determined by the time signature, but you can also have irregular measures
