Changing Instruments in Musescore
Is there a simple way in Musescore to change the type of instrument that will play a particular part? For example, I want a part that is written for trombone to be played by a baritone sax. So, I need to change the part from bass clef to treble clef, and to transpose the part, in this case from D major to B major. Is there a quick way to do this, perhaps in the "edit, instruments" menu?

The previous respsne covers the case where you want the change mid-score - e.g., if you want the player to put down his trombone and pick up a bari part way through the performance. Otherwise, if you want to change throughout the score, right-click the staff, Staff Properties, Change Instrument.
