Need help with score

Hello,
I am learning to write music notation using violin but struggling to structure music notes like in the attached picture. When I add a full note on top of 4 quarter notes, the quarter notes disappear and the whole note takes the whole bar. Please see the attached screen shot for the requirement and please help how to achieve this.
