Playback Button, Mixer and Synthesizer are disabled
My OS is Windows 10 64 bits, and the Musescore version is the latest 3.3.0.8737 (just downloaded it).
I've tried reverting to factory settings, reinstalling several times, the 32 and 64 bit version of the program, updating my sound drivers, but nothing has worked.
I also have an older version of Musescore (2.0.3) installed which works fine.

In case of interference with other programs, esp. on Windows, go into your soundcard configuration from Control Panel and ensure that the "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" in the Advanced tab of both Playback and Recording is unticked

That didn't do anything sadly.

Tell us what you see Edit/Preferences -> I/O (hoping someone else will have better suggestions).

empty drop-down lists?
Right click the speaker icon in the task bar, select open volume mixer and make sure MuseScore 3 is not muted.

MuseScore 3 has a major bug with playback when using certain audio/usb devices. When starting up MuseScore 3 in that situation, the playback panel, mixer and synthesizer are all disabled, and the PortAudio fields in Preferences > I/O are empty. The solution is to remove the device and restart the app. For example I had to turn off my Bose bluetooth headphones and restart the app.
Update: Here's a help page written to address the problem: https://musescore.org/en/node/319930
Turns out I just needed to switch my headphones from the default headset mode, to the other mode (audio only I guess?) and then MuseScore was working again with my headphones.

Is that headset equipped with a microphone?
