How can I write a suspended cymbal roll? I need one. Start rolling from very soft (almost unheard) and then crescendo. I tried to use a marching cymbal and throw in some tremelo, but it doesn't sound good. Can someone show me an example?
Single Note Dynamics currently don't work for tremolos, but see #289898: Cresc./dim. are ignored for tremolos., this is fixed in the current development builds and as such will be in 3.5 too

In 3.5 yes but not in 3.4, due to the same bug
