Static sound during playback

Whenever I use the playback feature, there is a loud static sound. (Except when I use headphones)
The computer I have is a MacBook 2015 running El Capitan.
I am not sure if this is an issue with my computer as it did not do it with my old one, or if there is a setting a can change to resolve this issue.
I have already tried reinstalling.
