Unable to tie between normal and triplet notes

• Mar 10, 2016 - 09:33

Hello.

It seems that unabled that musescore 2.02 cannot make tie between normal and triplet notes.

I tried for making tie in the input mode like

6 - note(like f) - Ctrl 3 - 5 - +
but tie does not making.

And it seems that another way of making ties not working. So What I have to do?

The creation of the triplet takes the selection away from the previous note, which is why the tie is failing.

Possible workarounds:

  1. Starting from a selected whole measure rest, not in note entry mode:
    6 right Ctrl-3 left 6 note 5 +
  2. Starting from Note input mode (closest to what you've done now):
    6 note Ctrl-3 5 same_note Esc left + right right

Just enter the notes without the tie, then leave note entry, select the first note you want to tie, (last note of the triplet, or last normal note before the triplet), then Ctrl click on the second note you want to tie to select that also, then push +

FWIW, in 2.0.3 adding ties to notes already entered will be possible without leaving note input mode. But since the creation of the tuplet moves the selection forward, you will have to hit the left arrow to move the selection back to the half note first. This doesn't work in 2.0.2 - once the cursor has moved forward it's essentially too late to go back and add a tie, so you have to leave note input mode.

Is it possible we could re-implement the shortcut from v. 1.3, where you only (after inputing notes) had to select a note from a tie, then hit Ctrl+[number of notes in tuplet]?

I.e. Say, I want to tie (from the earlier example) a half-note to a quarter within in a triplet. In 1.3, I would create a half tied to another half with 6, 6+. Then, exiting note-entry mode, I would select the latter half note, and hit Ctrl+3. This would result in a half tied to a single quarter, inside a quarter triplet.

If you want to see it visually, here's a picture, albeit, with a slightly different situation: half-tied to quarter, quarter selected, Ctrl+3, then the eighth note in the triplet was rechanged to a quarter in the triplet: Triplet Tie.png

So, could this shortcut be put back in?
