lyric extension (_and-) problem
there is no tool for remove lyric extension (_and-)
and lyric extension (_and-) can't cross rest note for singing a sound interval with a mini stop

underscore: Shift+spacebar >place the cursor at the end of the preceding syllable and press spacebar;
hyphen: place the cursor at the end of the syllable and press return.
trick, if you settle: a dot (as lyric) on the first note after the rest. I don't know if it is formally correct, however

You could create a second voice of plain notes and attach the lyrics to these notes. Then make these notes invisible.
If you need a sample.... attach the mscz which served to prepare your png....

I think that taking a breath within a syllab is not notated in occidental music. It does happen...but the performer knws he had to....
Actually, is the ideogram monosyllabic?
If ideograhic languages does need such a possibility, you should consider ask for an improvement of Mscore

You can also place a note there, add the melisma line normally, then delete the note to leave a rest.
MuseScore is more optimized to doing creating standard notation; non-standard notations like this sometimes take an extra step or two.

this is a problem for editing lyric very much...

Can you explain the problem? The symbols can be erased as explained - either delete the lryci they are attached to, or simply replace these with ordinary spaces.
