Cannot Open File

• Mar 18, 2016 - 00:48

Hello,

So, I was composing a piece of music and when I was finished I saved the program and closed musescore. The program did not crash at all, until after I opened the program at a later time and the file would not open, I received the error: Cannot read file C:/Users.

I just want to know how I can fix this. A lot of my work that I had done has been lost, and its absolutely frustrating that this has happened.

I'm sorry that this has happened. Are you *sure* there was no crash? And are you *sure* you are trying to open the right file? C:/Users is not a valid filename.

If you are absolutely positive there was no crash and that you are trying to open the right file, then I'm afriad the only explanation is worse: your hard drive may be failing. In any case, see https://musescore.org/en/node/52116 for information on how you might be able to recover from a backup that MsueScore created for you even if you did not create a backup yourslef (always a good idea, of course)

I am almost positive that it did not crash while closing the program. Though, later when reopening it, the program needed to be forced closed, but that was after the file would not open. And this is the error code that I saw:
Cannot read file C:/Users/Christina/Documents/MuseScore2/Scores/Brighter_Mornings.mscz:
