Can I paste segments of notation into a text document such as Word or Writer?
I have tried pasting segments of notation into a text document but it does not seem to work. Is there some way of doing this? How were segments of notation put into the manual? Do I have to save the segments in a particular file format first?

Yes, save as an image (.png), and trim with any image editor.
There is a plugin you can install from the Plugins page (see menu at right of this page) that automates this to some extent. the next major version will have a feature where you can just select region of the screen and have it exported to a graphic format. I'm looking forward to that!

I'm wondering if the next version could be even better by pasting the selected area as an image in the system clipboard, to be able to paste directly in a word processor. Would that be helpful ?
