Can I define an 8 string tablature instrument?
Hi all, I'm working on altering the instruments.xml to define an instrument which represents my 8 string pedal steel guitar in tablature but the "staffTypePreset" only has settings for 4, 5, and 6 string tabs.
◦staffTypePreset A staff type preset among "stdNormal", "perc1Line", "perc3Line", "perc5Line", "tab6StrSimple", "tab6StrCommon", "tab6StrFull", "tab4StrSimple", "tab4StrCommon", "tab4StrFull", "tabUkulele", "tabBalajka", "tab6StrItalian”, "tab6StrFrench". Default to “stdNormal”.
Is there a way I can create an 8 string tab that I'm not aware of?

You can create an 8 string tab by first creating a tab (e.g. guitar) staff, then modifying from within MuseScore using Staff Properties.

Basically, you customize the number of strings, the tuning of each string, the instrument name, number of frets, etc.
