Style editing preview
It would be nice to have an illustrated preview while editing various style parameters. That will make the settings much easier and intuitive. In style editing dialogue, there are plenty spaces on each page for preview.
One example is the [Paragraph] settings in Word Processor applications.

My preference would be if the style window applied changes to the score immediately. And then reverted those changes if you pressed Cancel.

That's not what I suggested.
User still hardly can understand some of those parameters unless you change the focus on score dynamically to reflect the change while changing a specific parameter (when enter the Style editing, user view could be any).
If the score is big and complicated, the performance will suffer, esp. on slower machine.

I am aware it is not what you suggested but they are related by a similar motive: help users understand the consequence of the changing a particular number in the style window.
