Different Dynamics on repeated passages

• Jun 5, 2011 - 15:46

I often use MuseScore to create new copies of tatty brass band music. A common feature, especially in marches, is the repeated section played at different dynamics. For example, I'm currently at a section which is "p" first time and "ff" second time. This is usually indicated by the dynamic "p-ff" at the start of the section. (I'm not sure if this also occurs in orchestral music)

MuseScore seems to have no way to enter this as a dynamic. for my printed part, I could use Stave Text, with appropriate font adjustments. However, it would not play correctly. Is there any way to achieve my ambition? If not, could it be added, since it is common in brass music.

Thanks

You can enter a "p" dynamics and then double click it to edit it to "p-ff". MuseScore will not play it but you can print it and give it to your brass band, and they will :)
If you really need the playback you could create a second score with the two sections plainly written.
