This is a composition for a school project I'm doing. I need a small rest between each measure because it sounds jammed together in its current state. How do I add that break/rest without changing the time?

When I first looked at this, I thought a 16th was missing. On further examination I saw the after the fermata the rhythm was a16th then 8ths.
Note 2 and 3 are not both 16ths.
Is this a problem with MS layout, or will the difference be easier to see when printed? Or am I just going blind?
