Crashes when adding instrument and Files being killed.

• Jun 2, 2016 - 04:01

I'm running 2.0.3 on El Capitan.

Frequently I have had the problem that adding an instrument under Edit>Instruments will crash the program. It's to the point where if I have to add multiple instruments, I'll only do one at a time and save in between each one in case it crashes. I would say, if I have to add 10 instruments to a score it will crash at least twice during that process. If I try to add more than 4 instruments in the same operation, there's a 70% chance it will crash.

I've also noticed a more insidious problem: that the program will crash while I'm saving. This will corrupt the file, causing it to break. I will no longer be able to open, read, or edit that file. It is gone.

This has happened with large files that I've put hours of work into. It's devastating.

Hello,

- For the first point (adding an instrument under Edit>Instruments will crash the program.), I guess that might due to this issue: #85046: Crash when adding/removing an instrument in Continuous view after autosave
See in particular: https://musescore.org/en/node/85046#comment-377721

So, the problem (if confirmed the same) is avoidable by adding instruments via the Page View.

- For the second point, "the program will crash while I'm saving", I don't recall from now this issue (maybe, or a related one, but my memory is less clear on this point)
So, could you provide more details, by sharing an involved score, and describing steps to reproduce? Thanks.

Yes I'm always in continuous view when the first problem happens. I'll try in page view and see what happens.

In the second instance, I think both problems are related. The couple of times I've had a file corrupted were while saving, soon after adding instruments to the score. Others mentioned the problem happening during auto save.
