copy/move a voice from a stuff to another

• Jul 12, 2011 - 11:47

I made a mistake writing a fugue in bach' style: I wrote 3 voices on the G-clef stuff and only 1 voice on the F-clef stuff.
(I organized the grand-stuff as TWO pianos: the first with ONLY G-clef stuff, and the second with only F-clef stuff; the reason of this choice is that I would hide the empty staves)
Now, as I said I've 3 voices on G-stuff: I want to move (cut&paste) ONLY the 1st voice from this stuff to F-stuff. But F-stuff has just one 1st voice! So I have two questions:
1) How to cut&paste the 1st voice from a stuff to another that has just its own 1st voice changing this last into the 2nd voice?
2) How to change the remaining 2nd and 3rd voices on the G-stuff into the 1st and 2nd?
Thanks a lot for your help.

  1. Save your work in a backup file :)
  2. Create a new temporary staff
  3. Paste your first staff in this temporary staff
  4. Right click on a note of voice 2, select -> More -> Same staff, same voice -> OK and press delete, select the rests the same way and delete them as well
  5. Do the same for voice 3, you should have only voice 1 of your first staff in the 3rd staff now
  6. Select all the measures in staff 2, go to Edit -> Voices -> Exchange voice 1-2
  7. Copy paste staff 3 in staff 2, now you have the second staff like you want it
  8. In staff 1, exchange voice 1 and 2, select voice 2 and delete it. You have now voice 1 and 3.
  9. In staff 1, exchange voice 3 and 2. Remove the rests if necessary.
