mouse wheel in 1.1?

I can't remember if I had to do something special to enable the mouse wheel in 1.0 for scrolling and zooming. But I did a full factory reset upon installing 1.1, and my "mouse wheel" (actually a touchpad scroll zone) no longer does anything.
