Col legno, trill/trillo/mordent/turn note change, gong/tam-tam sound change, and grace note after note fix

• Jul 15, 2016 - 03:36

I think that col legno (the act of playing normally on a stringed instrument with the wood) would be a great addition to Musescore. Col legno would be in "Staff Text Properties", and it wouldn't appear in "text" in "palettes". My next topic is the trill/trillo/mordent/turn note change. In most music, when applying any of the ornaments mentioned, sometimes they would have an accidental above or below it. This shows that the following note should follow the accidental. I think this would also be a great addition to Musescore. My next topic is the gong/tam-tam change. I don't think the gong/tam-tam sounds very real. I suggest recording a sound of a gong playing. Also, please fix the note appearance, as in most music, it appears as a normal note instead of an "x". Thank you for listening.

- You can currently add an accidental from the accidentals palette directly to a trill line (from the Lines palette) but not to the other ornaments. that would indeed be a good addition. Meanwhile, though, you can still add the appropriate accidental from the Symbols palette (press "Z" to display). The ones used for figured bass (eg, "Figured bass flat") seem sized especially well.

- The problem is that the General MIDI standard does not define a gong as a sound, so standard-compliant soundfonts like the one we use don't include a sound for it. But see the Handbook under "Soundfonts" to learn how to install another soundfont - I assume there exist some non-GM-standard ones that include gongs.

- There really is no standard for drum notation, but the system we follow is pretty common. If yuou prefer something different, see the Handbook under "Drum notation" to learn how to customize the appearance of drum notes according to your personal preference.

BTW, in the future, it is best to start separate theads for separate discussions.
