Eighth notes are all different lengths!

• Jul 24, 2016 - 01:36

I imported a MIDI into MuseScore, and in the sheet music fort the first couple measures all there are are a bunch of simple eighth notes. but when I press playback, the notes endure for different lengths, sometimes acting like much shorter heads. What in the MIDI (and the settings/note properties) is causing this, and how can I get the notes to playback at an even and perfect tempo?

Welcome aboard...

Are you saying that the midi file sounds ok using a media player app, but that MuseScore plays it differently?
If so, the best way forward would be to post the midi file and also state the version of MuseScore you are using to open it.

Regards.

MuseScore generally honors the original lengths of the notes from the MIDI file. If you'd like to edit those lengths, you can right click in the staff and use the Pianoroll Editor, but it's pretty cumbersome. Far better to quantize your sequence before saving it as a MIDI file within your sequencer.
