Over write chord names should delete previous chord name.

• Aug 4, 2011 - 15:15

Not sure where to post this.

This has been consistent throughout my use of MuseScore.

1.Write a new score using chord names, say 4 bars. Use all Bbs for example, 1 per bar.
2, write a melody in bar 1
3. Click-Select notes in Bar 1 and copy to bars 2,3,4.
4. Delete a chord name from one of those latter bars.

Expected result: chordname disappears.
Actual result: chordname remains.

Discussion: This happens because the prior chordname is not replaced, only overlaid by the 2nd chordname. I think that the first-entered chordname should be replaced, not added to.I know that is the chordname is layered, and there is no harm done in printing, but this was very confusing to me until I finally figured out what was happening.

This seems related, but different, to the idea of being able to copy / paste individual voices. What is really needed is a way to specify exactly what gets copied. I could imagine something like a special keystroke (with corresponding GUI acess) after a select operation bringing up a dialog where you specify what you really want considered part of the selection. We sort of have something like this via the select sub menu in the right click menu, but I,m thinking it would be something where you first selcted the egion normally then broight up the dialog to say what elements within the selection you really want considered part of the selection.
