1.1 uses 100% CPU intermittently

• Aug 27, 2011 - 15:53

Running Version 1.1 on Mageia. Same problem with the 1.1 tarball on Mandriva 10.2

Much of the time, when I start MuseScore, CPU usage goes to 100% straightaway. I can open or edit a score and save it, but when I try to close it, I get a "Not Responding" message box, so I must remember to save before exiting.

I can't say what triggers it. RAM use goes up, but within normal limits. Starting from a clean reboot or a fresh login helps some of the time, but not always. Recently it refused to start properly, and I couldn't load the instrument list for a new score. Nothing I did, logging out or rebooting, would change things, so I switched to Frescobaldi. Later that day, I couldn't make MuseScore malfunction.

Prepared to run any tests requested.

Doug aka Murphy.

Can you run musescore without synthesizer. Run mscore -s in a terminal.
If I understand you correctly, it does happen even without playing the score right?

Yes, the problem is irrespective of whether a score is loaded or not. Terminal messages are as follows:

Cannot connect to server socket err = No such file or directory
Cannot connect to server socket
jack server is not running or cannot be started
Expression 'SetApproximateSampleRate( pcm, hwParams, sr )' failed in 'src/hostapi/alsa/pa_linux_alsa.c', line: 1293

Expression 'PaAlsaStream_Configure( stream, inputParameters, outputParameters, sampleRate, framesPerBuffer, &inputLatency, &outputLatency, &hostBufferSizeMode )' failed in 'src/hostapi/alsa/pa_linux_alsa.c', line: 1993

When I ran "mscore -s", it started normally.
