Setting up MuseScore on an eee PC

• Mar 17, 2009 - 15:18

I'm helping a friend set up MuseScore on a new eee PC using the default settings. My first guess about how to do it is that I should add MuseScore's APTrepository to the end of the file /etc/apt/sources.list, like this:

deb http://www.musescore.org/apt [distribution] [description]

However, I don't know what I should state as the distribution or the description of the repository. What values should I enter to download it? Is there a better way to go about installing MuseScore on this machine?

The problem is that the eee PC ships with only references to it's own APT repositories in sources.list, so just flipping over to the universe repository in a GUI isn't an option unless I add all of either the Ubuntu or MuseScore repositories manually first. I suspect the eee PC is going to have some differences with Ubuntu, since it seems to use a combination of apt, rpm, and it's own package manager.
