AS I peruse the posts

• Sep 24, 2011 - 15:26

I constantly see ones which do not contain Op. system and MS version information, and I or spomeone else has to encourage the poster to include this info before the problem can even be begun to work on.

I think it might be a good idea to have these as necessary fields before the post can be uploaded, similar to when one tries to post an Issue.

What do you think?

Maybe for the support forum; doesn't make as much sense for the others. And even in the support forum, it doesn't necessarily apply to "how do I..." types of questions. Although sometimes that does turn out to be relevant, so sure, requiring it makes sense. At the very least, there could be a more prominent suggestion to include that info in the screen where you compose messages.

I don't mind asking when the info is missing. While I ask, I get the opportunity to ask a little more about the actual problem. So I rather see it as a way to get into communication.

Update: I always check the user profile to see what OS they are working on.
