Music theory people: are these the correct notations in 6/8 time?

In my composition, I have a measure where I want the main melody to hold its rhythm for 5 beats (worth 5 eighth notes) and play for the last beat. I put a tie for the first five beats (the first note in the tie is a dotted quarter note and the second one is a regular quarter note).
Also, in both the treble and bass clef in this composition, there are many instances where the second voice is the same note as the first voice (melody). Should that be notated in both voices or only as a single voice?
This is important to me. Please help!

I would interpret this phrase the way you describe it. The second voice allows one to be held and the other articulated. If you want the dotted quarter to only sound for the eighth, you will have to notate that so it is clear.

Looks good to me, too. Where possible, notate 6/8 in two groups of 3, breaking up longer note values to expose beat "4" (aka "big 2"). And the dual stem is the way to handle a note shared between voices.
