"Special Bars"

• Oct 1, 2011 - 20:08

I have read lots of your posts on why you can't have inserts into MS because of justification, however, what would be very useful is if we could have a way of inserting a "special bar" which tells the program to ignore whatever is typed into the bar and continue with justification from the end of the bar(s). That way if we wanted a bar where we can't easily find the feature, like crochet triplets, or say something where it specifically does not make sense to MS we could get away with inserting one of these bars and not spend time in the wee small hours (3am here) looking for a solution

Right click a measure, select measure properties, and then enter any value you like for its "actual duration". MuseScore will then let you put that many beats into it. but this shouldn't be used as a substitute for learning how to enter tuplets - that is done quite easily in MuseScore, as explained in the handbook under "tuplets".

Thanks for the comment about entering tuplets, mine however, didn't work. I finally figured out it was either a progarming error, or the downlaod had not gone as planned. Eventually after doing the same thing around 20 times, with no variation, it did what I wanted. A further hour meant I had managed to enter the second triplet in a bar.I then copied and pasted the triplets around rather than try and do it again.
What I meant by special bar was actually a little more than the actual duration option, but hey l'm not knocking too hard, MS is a whole heap better than SIb. which I threw out in frustration, having shelled out more than I care to think about.
