How can I change instruments on one part mid score?
Hey. I am working on a transcription where the Bari sax player switches to clarinet around the middle of the piece, then later to tenor sax. Is there a way to enact this within ONE PART, switching instruments in the middle of the piece? Even if all it did was change the text (without the synth sounds changing during playback) is not ideal, but would be fine for my purposes. But if its possible to do both...even better!
Couldnt find a definitive answer to this anywhere, sorry if its already been discussed...

The way to do this is to write out the relevant parts on separate staves for the Bari Sax and the Clarinet.
If you choose Hide Empty Staves in the Edit General Style dialogue box MuseScore will merge the two parts.

Indeed, the method of creating them as separate instruments and then using the hide empty staves option is the full solution, at least until 2.0 comes along. But if all you really need is a text indication, what,s wrong with simply adding one as Staff Text (ie, hit Ctrl-T and type your text).
