Big Measure Numbers
I want to know if I can create big measure numbers, but not on an interval, but at random
I am transcribing a piece from viola to violin. This picture is actually the piece I am trascribing.
You can see that the measure numbers 7,15,20,28,37, and 45 are abnormally large to show the beginning of a phrase. If I could do that then that would be great.

Those are called "rehearsal marks". Select a note, press Ctrl-M (or Create/Text/Rehearsal Mark) and enter the mark text/number.

thanks, I should have realized what they were called. Now I remember. Thanks for the help. But now I have the rehearsal mark and the measure number below. Is there any way to now get rid of the measure number?

Sure. Go to Style -> Edit general Style -> Numbers and untick measure numbers.

That's not quite what I meant. I only want to get rid of the measure number where the rehearsal marks are, but I want measure numbers on all of the other measures. You can see this in the example, where measure numbers are shown below measures, except where rehearsal marks are at 7, 15, 20, 28, 37, and 45. Is there any way to do that?

I can't think of a way to get that effect. Seems like something you'd want MuseScore to do by default - suppress measure numbers in any measue that has a rehearsal mark. Or at least, provide an option to get that behavior, as you may not want to suppress the measure numbers if using letters rather than numbers for the rehearsal marks. Letters are probably more common, except in orchestral scores, in my experience. But there should probably be a special "insert" for current measure number within a rehearsal mark so they automatically update as you add/remove measures.

Ok, one more thing. I already figured out how to put the measure numbers at the bottom of the measures rather than the top. But how do I get them another cm or so lower? And also, on multi-measure rests, it only shows the first measure number. Can I get it to show, for instance, in a multi-measure rest from 45-48, to show "45-48" instead of just "45"

the properties of individual measure numbers. Click on a measure number to select it, right click, and adjust its size.

In my opinion, one of the most valuable feature of MuseScore is its ability to export the score as a bitmap image (png). Once your score has been translated into a png file, you can open it with any image editing software and do with it whatever you like! I use this feature a lot to fine-tune my scores, and I can state that amazing results can be reached.
An even better way to accomplish the same result would be via MuseScore's svg export but, for some reason I can't grasp, svg exports show strange fonts in place of the expected ones (probably because the needed fonts are not embedded into the svg file itself, and MuseScore's font is never installed as a system font).

It's possible to download the fonts embedded in MuseScore if you do a Google search, but there is another problem with SVG export - if your music has more than one page MuseScore exports them all one on top of the other :)
Personally I finetune scores using PDFEdit on Ubuntu, which is the only PDF editor have come across which will read MuseScore PDFs properly.
I did experiment with output to Lilypond, but my version of Lilypond refuses to compile the output file, and I haven't had time to figure out how to import a MusicXML file into Lilypond yet.

I did, and I downloaded the file. But for some reason I didn't succeed in installing it into my system, so my svg export remained a faulty exercise of abstract art. :)
I'll try the PDF solution you are suggesting, though I have to find a different PDF editor as I don't use a Linux system.
i figured it out! if you right click the measure and go to properties,(right click measure->measure properties)
then you can click exclude from measure count.
