creating a document in landscape view

I'm trying to create a document in landscape view and all the posts I've read say to go into some sort of page setup (I can't remember at the moment exactly where) and choose landscape. I can get to the page just fine, but there is no "landscape" option. I want the paper size to be letter, but the orientation to be landscape. The only option I can find is choosing paper size, not paper orientation.
